There are also a few added wrinkles to this epic match that you may not see when watching past WarGames clashes on the award-winning WWE Network. Presented by. I played these at a convention in recent months and enjoyed them very much. Invisible City Productions has a new miniatures game called Steampunk Arena. Steamwork Arena is a quick playing, diceless, customizable, miniature-based fighting game.

During play, you move your mecha miniature around an un-gridded playing area, attacking and being attacked by your opponent s. This card is called a template. Your template keeps track of your health. Your mode dictates your attack, defense, energy, movement, and the range of your ranged attacks.

You win the game by dealing enough damage to your opponent s to shut down all of their modes. To do this, you hide energy tokens in your hands and your opponent gets to pick a hand. The number of tokens in the selected hand determines how strong your attack or defense is. All tokens in both hands get spent.

Steamwork Arena is a game for two to four players, although you could probably play it with more. Steamwork Arena uses miniatures, a large flat surface, small tokens, custom templates, and paper clips. No, not necessarily free supplements, like the Impetus collection in Wargames Vaultbut actual playable rules for test drives and full gaming. I have spoken. To the Strongest! The rules are uncomplicated, and yet provide seasoned gamers with a challenging battle that can comfortably be concluded in an evening. They also have a high degree of suitability for solo play.

Most unusually for a tabletop wargame, neither measures nor dice are used in a game of To the Strongest! Units move on a nearly-invisible square grid. With no need for measurement nor wheeling, each game proceeds at a cracking pace! The grid also enables figures based for different rule systems to be used together on the same battlefield.

Dice are replaced by common playing cards. It turns out to be faster to play a series of cards than to pick up and roll a die; and exciting, too! Examples of play and diagrams are used to illustrate key concepts, and the rules are richly illustrated with photos of beautifully painted wargames figures and battles.
